Sad Times..I am hungry!!

So I go in today to see about a tooth that had broken off at school lunch no less..and almost ended up with a root canal. Thankfully at least for now the dentist said he thought the filling he put in will work...but I'm sad (refer to picture) because I can't eat until the numbness wears off the dentist said.

So usually we do not do events on Sunday other than staying home, but today we were lucky enough to have free tickets via the USO of Washington to see the Washington Savoyards (a collection of performers from different opera companies in area)...look at the price on those tickets and then times it by 5...the military has such wonderful benefits and opportunities that I'm so glad that Chris decided to stay in so we can enjoy more of them...the outside of the building and location in the heart of poor DC is quite misleading... forgot to get a picture of the inside but gorgeous and very regal.

So we decided to have a little winter family fun, so we headed up to the Wisp Ski Resort in western Maryland..here are the results in photos,and since iPhone and Google don't like to play nice together,the videos will come later after I get them from YouTube. That is what I have to ask myself when I look at my little Kyle..granted unless you're the Duggars (I think they just announced their 23rd) you can't just keep having kids so you can always have one in the stage you like best, but man I love this little one with so much personality (especially when it comes to clothes) that he just can't contain it sometimes...Chris got some better shots with his nicer camera but this was easier and more time effective for me!! :)

Not mini me of myself but a little mini Chris working in our kitchen cabinets. The military has already told us we were leaving once only to yank it out from under us right when we were getting excited...so obviously the possibility to leave here is real so with every little break we get from work (both Chris and I),school (both for kids and Chris) cub scouts,and now Activity day girls (recently got a new calling) we thought it would be smart to work on a house project getting it little by little ready to be sold, or rented or whatever. A good friend of mine (pictured here with one of her 5 kids) got some free tickets for Disney on Ice,and the original people she had invited to join with her couldn't go, so hey Destinee and I will gladly play the part of the "next best thing" to get to see free Disney on Ice....was an absolute blast!! :)

Well at least three in this picture...we kept up our awesomeness that is matching costumes for the family, but well somebody had to take the picture here and Chris ,for the first year sadly was not with us on our traditional trick or treat on Main Street...he had lots of studying to do and he also had a very sore shoulder all put up in a sling and everything, but well that's a whole different story!!

Even took a day off of work to enjoy a day worth my littlest man when his preschool went on a field trip to a local pumpkin patch and farm...what a fun day..he even volunteered to help the farmer and got dressed up as a beekeeper as you can see in his picture!! :)

Well so it begins...the night before freak out or actually in this case, the very un-Destinee like cool and collected "No problem, I can get this together" school project. The assignment that of course she has known about for weeks and if I had known, the exact same one I would have been nagging her about was to create a pet rock...yes school projects at their best....well so I come home from some training I had to take for school and see her with my Slice machine (similar to Cricut (of which I have too) just smaller) cutting out some letters..of which almost brought a fake tear to my eye that she thought to use it,so I think "Hey,maybe Ill just leave it to her to do this project all on her own and it will look tremendous" (okay that's a little strong..I would settle for good) but alas when the dry erase markers come out to start writing with, the "I can't let my kid take THAT to school" came out and I stepped in. Now some of you moms out there (the very few that even read my blog) might think creatively "assisting" your kids with school assignments is bad but oh well I work at the same place my kids go to school and I couldn't bear the looks of shame or whispered conversations in the teachers lounge about "The mother that let her child turn in the "We'll be talking about that project for years..and not favorably-project in." Are you laughing yet...I hope so cause don't care nearly that much...however do want my kid to get a good grade...so pipe cleaners, yarn, and googly eyes start flying and though its a small pic here is the finished project!! See if you can click on it and enlarge it so you can read the middle part...hey, at least her teacher would laugh!!

Well as I was posting them, I raealized that my title might not have been the best as only one of the pics I posted had anything to do with Star Wars but almost everything Kyle does or thinks about includes it so why not!! Some cute masterpieces hr created at preschool...the middle ( read:best looking!) pumpkin on this pic is his ;) Oh and in case you can't read it the person picture was an assignment for him to imagine himself being something or someone else....all the other kids have things like: "I'm a mermaid princess" or "famous racecar driver" but not my little Jedi...he is imagining he is Obi Won Kenobi in Lego Star Wars!!

Can't stand how awesome of a weekend it makes for when all we do is travel around in search of sites worthy of a family photo shoot..and boy did we find them..we traveled to Dutch Country this morning, i.e. Lancaster County, PA and happened across Strasburg Railroad..now most things cost and we didn't want to do lots of that today, so we kind of wandered around on our own in search of sites that we could make our own..and subsequently after some awesome shots on the tracks, we were discovered and "kicked" off by the Railroad Hitler..she wasn't pleasant at all, but hey minus one picture I had in mind that didn't happen, we had already gotten all our shots, so blahblah!! ;)

Covered Bridge Tour

So, I recently decided that one of my living room walls was too bare and lacking something..in so many other homes I've seen, there are large walls of family pictures..mostly from birth to now..and though my collection of baby pics for some of my kids are definitely lacking (i.e read this..almost nonexistent)...what better time to start than the present!! So we headed out to Frederick, MD, about an hour and a half away in search of some of these 1800's covered bridges, and alas we found two of them. One of them was I guess on someone else's property behind a gate and everything..so we'll never know what that one looked like..but the two we found sure did produce some BEAUTIMOUS pics...this is a picture collage that the photo sharing site, Picasa created...pretty awesome!! ;) What do you think, which is your favorite??

So usually the officers of the AF have funny little things that they are allowed to change from their normal regulation way of looking...such as: Flat top February, Mustache March (this year it became "stache" tember), No Hair November,etc. Well this year the enlisted (working folk) decided to join in for the fun, and for once Chris decided to join in and here are the results. Best Mustache for the entire flight...about 42 guys!! The best part is that Kyle LOVES it, and begs Chris to keep it everyday...Chris is undecided!! ;) What do u think??

Well since my post a few times ago about me getting my job again at my kids school, there have definitely been some major stresses with childcare, and mostly the finances to support them...well I figured today that I would try and forget (or at least delay) about them today and let the kids play for a little bit at the fabulous parks right in our neighborhood (besides our HOA charges us for them each month, might as well use them!!) and they had a blast....

Kinda dark but maybe you can see Destinee standing with another little girl....well a cutout that is, of Kalani, the 2011 American Girl of the Year...now if anyone is not acquainted with American Girl,they are a doll company that specializes in period historical and everyday girls that are supposed to look like the girls that purchase them...the part that I like about them the most is that the company (through the dolls) teach wonderful lessons to girls about being true to themselves,how to have manners,etc...Unfortunately for Destinee,who has loved them for quite some time,the dolls are $100 and for us that's pretty steep so she has two actually...from Michaels...but they look just as pretty I think and we can do more things to accessorize them at $20 a piece, instead of $100...but anyway they until a few months ago have only had A.G. stores to visit as close as NY,but recently one in the Tysons Corner,VA mall opened and so we made the trek today to just kinda "window shop" and enjoy a dealve into some Destinee time!! :)

Made this diaper cake for a good friend of mine...usually I'm afraid I won't do a good job of something all by myself and so I ask for help from Chris..but this time I decided to put on my "big girl pants" and try it and I love it if I do say so myself!! Anyone who is even remotely an outdoorsy type person will have heard of vibram five fingers and the benefits of "barefoot" walking...well they make them in kid sizes as well as adult and we just so happened to find some in both Dalin and Kyle sizes...these happen to be the smallest size they make...in Kyle's size!! He was ecstatic to have the awesome "gorilla toe shoes" like Daddy does.

Saw this on a friends sewing and craft blog that is an envy to me for sure...but this is my interpretation of her lovely "library skirt"...do the steps of cloth make more sense now I hope...they're the binding edge of books...some laying down, slanted, and up and down just like in a typical bookcase (at least mine!!) And the selvedge edge of each fabric that of course usually is thrown away becomes the title of the books!! I thought it turned out cute!! :)

Maybe No Good Will Come...But??

Well, since I know this blog is sometimes the quickest way that my mom can "get the info" on my family...(and anybody else who cares too I guess!!) ;) I got my Parapro test scores (the teaching assistant test I posted about earlier,wish I knew how to do one of those linky things to refer back to that post, but alas computer and technologically illiterate!!) back and as far as Chris and I can interpret the scores, I got the highest score possible,even though I missed three of 90 questions (not bad odds though,right!!??) as there were some questions that did not count for scoring...so anyway, did really well, celebrate and feel great that I prepared well and did well, but now what?? I was pretty much told at the end of this last school year that I would be in the bottom of the pecking order to be in line for a TA job because of other teachers from other schools having first pick to move there if their particular job was "excessed" from another school. So what a bummer to know that maybe I did well for no one to recognize,but even if I can have back the job I had this past year,I would be elated as I truly loved almost every minute of it!! ;)

Brave Buddy Pt. 2

So now we are headed to the dentist where they look and say that though they could try to save the tooth with a cap,since it was a baby tooth, they thought the best idea would be just to pull it...to which I asked if he would have a replacement tooth or teeth (pulling both they said might be best for symmetry and because both took quite a beating)and they said no. Well fast forward to the dentist telling kyle about laughing gas, and he is completely on board!! He let's them mess around in his mouth, and numb his lips and gums 4 times without so much as a peep all while he is smiling and happy watching bob the builder and sniffing his "happy gas." The dentists all came to see this wonderful 4 year old patient that is as calm as a cucumber...and then came the actual pulling and he didn't love that nearly as much only because afterwards they made him chew on big wads of gauze to soak up the blood and he said nothing hurt but that his lip felt funny and the gauze felt weird,and so he wasn't too keen about that but the second we got back in the car he was out like a light and hasn't skipped a beat since..especially when he got his yoda little man with his tooth fairy money...love my little toothless wonder but hate that this happened.

My Brave Little Man

Well here goes, this blog is supposed to be somewhat of a journal of our little family's life,good and bad so here is an entry definetely falling under the heading of very bad. One of Chris's coworkers' wife just had a baby,but now the baby needed surgery and they also have a 3 year old little boy. Well even though we live in spitting distance of the nations best hospital, they can't seem to provide a place for families with more than one kid to stay and so therefore chris offers my premier babysitting talents (yeah right) to this family (he did ask first though) and so reluctantly I take on the task of watching this little man. Okay sorry time to shorten the post....watched the boy overnight of which he did great at sleeping thank goodness and then the next day comes and things are definitely a little rougher, but lunch time comes and things have settled down and so we decide to have a picnic outside with our toys and food, kyle runs back inside to get one last toy and trips on the stairs right inside the house and manages to split (read this: like butterflying a chicken breast in half) his front tooth...hard to see in pic but its there and so we go to dentist with this extra child and a sad kyle....sorry for the weird mouth,tongue pic..just trying to show his tooth.

Both of these fun little recipes came from a book purchased at my kids school book fair a year ago called "Silly Snacks" and it is all Sesame Street characters' supposed favorite recipes, and so the first one is s supposed to be lily pads that oscar likes...basically a spinach pancake with cheese on it..not bad but the next one takes the "cake" so to say (even though sesame street would never promote eating cake...heavens no!! ;) but if you have trouble getting your kids to easy carrots in particular, this ought to help...toss carrots (long ones cut in strips is what it asks for but I just had baby carrots and they work perfectly) with olive oil,salt,and pepper and cook for 20 minutes, turning once in between. After they come out of oven,toss with cinnamon sugar mixture...they are divine,and this is coming from my kiddos and myself who is an adult who doesn't even like many vegetables!!

Shenandoah and a Sneaky Circus Pic

Well jeepers the first pic didn't do what I told it to and turn itself but if you care to contort yourself to see it, it's pretty cute...a fallen tree in Shenandoah National Park made for a wonderful play spot for the kiddos while showing Mom the park (although nothing had bloomed yet, :( and then just a silly clown nose to prove we were at the circus!! ;)

Well as "luck" would have it, some time ago I registered for a few free circus passes at my neighborhood library and would you believe I won them (maybe because nobody else signed up, but hey!!) and wow what a show it was. Chris and I were talking on the way there and realized that we had probably never taken our kids to a circus before and couldn't remember why....WELL when we got to the box office to buy our last remaining ticket (only won four) we remembered to the tune of $28.50 per ticket...add that up for a family of 5...oh yeah and if you are the unlucky chap that decides to get hungry or thirsty while at the show, you can easily quench your thirst for a mere $3.50 a water bottle and for a measly $7.00 you can be the lucky recipient of some popcorn!! (Needless to say, our kids just had to be thirsty and hungry, cause uhhuh!!) But a VERY wonderful and worthwhile use of our free tickets was had by all!! Sorry for the quality of the videos...

Well long time no post...but here goes for those who care....I have a job!! There, that's what's been going on....I struggle with myself making sentences, stories, lectures, conversations, (you see where I"m going) longer than they need to be..(see, I didn't need to just say that sentence) so anyway prepare for a long ramble!! I am working at my two older kids' school as a temporary (meaning at least until the end of the year, but who knows after that) Special Ed Assistant. Though one would probably think you would need special training to do so, and for parts you do..this job was truly a gift from a loving Heavenly Father above who knew getting a job in a few years when Chris goes back to school full time might be a struggle to say the least with me not having a degree, or well special skills of any kind!! So therefore as short-lived as it may be, this job will help put a little away for the future. Now onto the video...got this from a friends' blog and saw the little girl about two seconds in and it just made me smile and so very sad at the same time as I thank our father in heaven every night for the health and "normalness" of my little familys' bodies,brains,etc. but also makes me wish for that day when these precious children that I work with at school will experience a "fullness" of their bodies,brains,etc. as well. Enjoy!! ;)

I have recently found the joy in making pillows (well covers for my existing pillows) and decided to scour my house for any and all fabric that could even be construed as anything Valentiney (definetely a real word btw) and came up with these four..then I have a set of votive holders that I decorate for each holiday with paper and ribbon....now if you are still reading this novel we made some yummy "dirt" even served in little gardening buckets completed with homemade pizza!! Yummy!!

Who can tell me what movie that's from?? Making you think,huh!!?? Anyway, I tried something new yesterday and signed up for AdSense through Google for my blog and so now there will be what is hopefully "pertinent" ads to what my blog contains in my sidebar that people can click on if they're interested , and hey everytime someone does I get paid!! Don't know much about it but hey it can't hurt to try and get a little extra right!!?? Oh yeah and the Google Search bar to the right would probably be my favorite as now I have my own Google search bar on my blog that if OTHERS happen to search for something from my blog, I get paid as well (I can't click on it myself or that would be cheating Google says!!) So click and search away!! ;)

Well how about that new template!! LOVE IT!! (especially that I even figured out how to do it without erasing my entire blog or something ridiculous!!) Hope all pics came through, but a fun day started with a breakfast of a homemade donut at the nearby Amish market,then Build a Bear for an extra outfit for Ruffy (his BAB cat),and McD's for lunch and Chuck E. Cheese for dinner!! What a fun day for a newly 4 yr. old topped off with an awesome (if I do say so myself) multicolored Superhero cake!! Love this little man!! ;)

While our family was stationed in Korea, we had the privilege of making some truly unforgettable friends that we miss very much nowadays not being able to see them. One of the older soldiers that went to church with us had a tradition with his family that they always ate mexican food on christmas eve. Well that particular christmas he was stationed 3000 miles away from them,and so his "ward family" in Osan Korea joined him for a delicious Christmas Eve dinner at the resident Taco Bell in the BX!! One of those special friends is pictured here with me at a chance meeting (after not seeing her for 2 years or so)...and where else would I meet her except for the closest Mexican restaurant!! ;)

What a wonderful thought and message for this wonderful holiday of eatery coming up so very soon upon us. I taught my primary children last Sunday that in order to be thankful for our: "video games, tv, and football" (responses to what you are thankful for) we must first and foremost be thankful for our bodies that allow us to be athletically able to play football, our hands to play those video games, our eyes to see the good and also all too much bad on tv. I hope to have more of an "attitude of gratitude" in these coming months as the holidays come about and large changes, whatever they may be, come to pass in our little family here.

Well maybe no explanation is needed, but the first video is Chris explaining how to "skydive" out of the back of his truck into our huge pile of leaves, which you will hear made me laugh because there was a distinct thud when he hit the pile, to which he replied that there definetely were not enough leaves for an adult to jump in..and then the second is the kids "attempt" at doing what he told them to do...btw we are in Prince William Forest in VA..just an hour away from home!! :)

Dalin had an extra credit project due where he studied a form of transportation and write a small 1st grade appropriate report about it, and dalin chose kayaking (could that have made chris any happier...don't think so) and this was just a pic of how big he is compared to a kayak paddle and canoe one.
