Long time no see OR Good times not forgotten

While our family was stationed in Korea, we had the privilege of making some truly unforgettable friends that we miss very much nowadays not being able to see them. One of the older soldiers that went to church with us had a tradition with his family that they always ate mexican food on christmas eve. Well that particular christmas he was stationed 3000 miles away from them, and so his "ward family" in Osan Korea joined him for a delicious Christmas Eve dinner at the resident Taco Bell in the BX!! One of those special friends is pictured here with me at a chance meeting (after not seeing her for 2 years or so)...and where else would I meet her except for the closest Mexican restaurant!! ;)

"Poor Daddy (or Chris)"

What my mom will say after seeing this picture and realizing that this mound of stuff covers a sleeping Chris!! This should be a very dejavu moment for mom knowing how many fun ancient scrapbook pics we have of my brother and myself torturing my dad while he slept. (flowers on his bald head, arm floaties on his arms, all manner of things put into his gaping snoring mouth. When presented with this idea, the kids needed no other instrucrions, and started piling!! ;)

Symphony of lights

A pretty light display around us, maybe too expensive for how long it took us to get through it (i.e. Not long!!) but very nice night activity.

We made it snow inside

A fun night activity for us, and though the kids had a little trouble figuring out which side to cut to make it not fall apart,Daddy on the other hand was a natural and made some pro looking snowflakes worthy of a blizzard!! :)

Watch,Listen,and Ponder

What a wonderful thought and message for this wonderful holiday of eatery coming up so very soon upon us. I taught my primary children last Sunday that in order to be thankful for our: "video games, tv, and football" (responses to what you are thankful for) we must first and foremost be thankful for our bodies that allow us to be athletically able to play football, our hands to play those video games, our eyes to see the good and also all too much bad on tv. I hope to have more of an "attitude of gratitude" in these coming months as the holidays come about and large changes, whatever they may be, come to pass in our little family here.

Looks Even Better Right Side Up!!

Oops on that last pic!! ;)

My Hot Husband

No explanation needed!! :)

Explanation

Well maybe no explanation is needed, but the first video is Chris explaining how to "skydive" out of the back of his truck into our huge pile of leaves, which you will hear made me laugh because there was a distinct thud when he hit the pile, to which he replied that there definetely were not enough leaves for an adult to jump in..and then the second is the kids "attempt" at doing what he told them to do...btw we are in Prince William Forest in VA..just an hour away from home!! :)

Fun times

Dalin had an extra credit project due where he studied a form of transportation and write a small 1st grade appropriate report about it, and dalin chose kayaking (could that have made chris any happier...don't think so) and this was just a pic of how big he is compared to a kayak paddle and canoe one. They're big aren't they!!

A bewitching spread

We hosted a halloween progressive dinner on halloween as it was stupid enough to fall on a sunday...so we were the first course of appetizers complete with ice shot glasses for our punch and bowl of bones wings and our favorite dip of mango chutney, bacon, and cream cheese...yum yum yum!!

Let you think about that one while I take some pics of its awesomeness to post for you a little later!! ;)

Strengthened by the Storm

Ahh....beautiful Harkers Island....too long a story to try and type with my phone's small keyboard but these trees that are blown to the side like that have a very thought provoking story to go aling with them via a book written by the stake president of the small ward down there, entitled "Strengthened by the Storm." Bet you could even google it and get a little snippit of the book, but anyway if anyone ever wants to actually know more about the story, just let me know.

Go EC...didnt help, but we tried.

At my high school for a football game with matching blue and gold school color outfits made by mom. I say, it didnt help because we got stomped on the field, but who was actually there to see the game, as much as seeing old friends and showing off my kiddos!! ;)

This One's For The Girls

So this was our monthly enrichment activity for Relief Society and it was based on the Martina McBride song "This One's For The Girls" and a poem that we love to love in our church, called "The Three White Dresses." But anyway, we got to bring our daughters to this one, so as you can see in one of the pictures here, there was quite an array of mothers and different aged daughters-ranging from Riley Perkes (the 3 month old baby in the last pic) to Michelle (who leaves for college next week). What a wonderful idea that the ladies had for this one, complete with nail paiting, and picture frame making and even a little photo op!! ;) Thanks for a wonderful activity ladies!! ;)

Like Father, Like Daughter

So I ask Destinee to come up with something that we could have for lunch...yes it's perfectly reasonable to ask her to do that if I'm helping (doing most of it) clean up her room...so : P to anyone who thought I was just being lazy and not wanting to do lunch...(which was also true.) But anyway, whenever Chris cooks, he makes a production out of the simplest ingredients and makes it a gourmet feast soley by the way he "presents" the food to eat...."Voila, I have made beef liver, and brusselsprouts for you..but it's put in this nice bowl...now feast!!" I mean, really!! Anyway, so this is what Destinee had done with our crackers and cheese for lunch...made our own little version of Lunchables and stacked them in such beautiful little piles. I hope this could continue, then I'll never have to make lunch again!! ;)

I Know..I Know...Get on with the good stuff

Yes the title would be eluding to the fact that most people would not consider this the good stuff, but then again I mean let's be real here...is anything I post ever really anything that could be classified as "The Good Stuff".......exactly!! So on with the less than good stuff, but GREAT as far as hairstyles go...I loved these last two I did and thought they came out very well!! ;)
