Hey Mom...Looking Forward To This??

The closeup is of Destinee's because when it was taken with all of them, it looked like they were all sucking on pacifiers!! So these were just some funny suckers (think Ring Pop with a Bunny face)that were in there Easter baskets. Yeah for Grandma and the silliness to ensue!! ;)

4 Nights of Yummy

Okay so I got this absolutely wonderful cookbook from Destinee's school book fair (I know, who knew there was anything good there!!) and besides I don't have ANY cookbooks here and so anything sounds better than nothing....so to count down to our trip to see Mom we picked out 4 delicioso (or at least what we hope will be that) recipes to make our countdown more yummy!! So be on the lookout for 4 yummy recipes...and when you see the pictures tomorrow night for tomorrow night's dish, those faithful readers will at least know what we're doing....So for Night 1:
WILD RICE POTATO SOUP

Mom I'm So Sorry....

Who knew it began so early....the statement that most parents dread coming from their (insert age here) aged child 10 minutes before bed OR maybe even better 10 minutes before school starts..."Mom/Dad I have a book report due today and I'll fail if it's not done....or scenario #2 "Mom I signed you up to bring 2 dozen cupcakes for the bake sale today..can you do it,hmmm, hmmmm??" Well let's address scenario #1 today.....Destinee tells me at approx. 5 pm (as Chris has just been rushed out the door to the hospital by his friend Jim) "Oh yeah, I need to read a non-fiction book about dinosaurs and write a book report on it due tomorrow or I have to do it during recess." As tempted as I was to say "Tough Tacos and that's a bummer on recess"...I decided for once to be the "good/nice parent"...I know foreign concept for me, and help her do the best project we could muster without tape/poster board/or most importantly a BOOK to present about!! Then the brilliance that occurs inside of my brain occasionally remembered a book that I had bought for the boys for the plane ride over here from Korea and thought it would work perfectly!! So armed with a high temp glue gun (which hurts VERY badly when in contact with a skin surface), a Capri Sun box, and some dino action figures that came with the aforementioned book we set to work!! What you see in the pictures is our best attempt at one of those cheesy shoebox diaramas that you said if you ever had a kid you'd never let them make...well there you go....all resolutions are thrown to the wind at 6 pm the night before the due date!! And we even came up with a game to test the children on how well they listened to the facts Destinee presented!! Not bad for a rookie/6pm mom!!

A Tedious Process

Attention Do-It-Yourselfers: More power to you!!!! Unfortunately you get the result before the process because I uploaded them in the wrong order...typical for me!! But this was our first home "renovation/upgrade" and after all the stress of doing it, I think it turned out pretty well...there is one last thing that Chris has to do to make it look perfect (putting a bolt in the mounting box up towards the ceiling) so that it covers the holes he made...but the reasoning he didn't was that he made a very unfortunate and uncomfortable trip to the hospital that night and so now the bolt can wait until he can get up there and do it....

What Happens When....

This is what happens when you are doing something upstairs and your 2 yr. old is quiet for too long of a period of time!!

My Landscapers!!

Well either a benefit or curse of living in a HOA is that your yard and your neighbor's yards must look good....and so we began the tedious process of "loving" up our yard since the previous owners certainly had not done the same...so here are my landscapers...they come pretty cheap...i.e. see payment in below post!!

To The Landscapers Go The Spoils!!

Well I realized tonight when I just wanted to upload the "one picture I'd taken in a while" how very wrong about the number of pictures I'd taken...so to start at the beginning (which happens to be coming WAY before the most recent post up until now of Golden Corral and Chris's surgery) so when you see pictures of Chris doing "strenuous" jobs, think Pre-Surgery!! This was the first dessert that I made while here, because it was KILLING me to not have made anything and to not have my cool stuff, and so I did the easiest thing I could think of...a trifle with my $3.77 IKEA bowl (By the way, first timer in IKEA when this was bought...LOVE IT!!) So this is what Chris and Jim got for starting the landscaping in our yard...not a bad attempt if I do say so myself!!
