Well as much as most people don't like reading blog posts without pictures, I just had to share my good deed for today..praises and she's a jolly good fellow are appreciated...JK!! ;) With over 62 inches of snow befalling our little Maryland area here in the past few months or so, there will always be the people who come out of the woodwork looking to make an extra buck shoveling someone's snow for them. There have been quite a few people knocking on my door lately, to which I tell all of them that I don't "require their services" 'cause I mean really, why do I need my steps shoveled if there's a building sized snow drift behind my car making it impossible to leave anyway AND where would I need to go..also who knows what kind of small fortunes these people are going to try and charge me for such a service. Well today I decided that since I was the only (at least almost) person who hadn't done their stairs, OR sidewalk, OR car I figured I would get to work myself and get some of this done. Now keep in mind we don't own a "snow" shovel, we just have a regular pointy dirt kind of shovel and so I set to work and under 1 ft. of snow wouldn't you know there was another few inches of ice...now I see why everybody else had done it EARLIER!! Anyway, I finally get the steps done and my shovel breaks..right at the connection between the handle and the shovel. Well, do I quit, NO!! Do I have gloves either, NO!! Am I stupid for not paying someone to do this ****, YES!! Anyway, so after a few breaks in the warm house to get my cramping, freezing hands a little R&R, I head back out to do the sidewalk...I get the whole path in front of my stairs and then I start going to the right of my house on the main sidewalk..(hard to imagine when you don't know what it looks like!!)..well after that task is done, I come back inside to make sure the kids haven't torn down the house in the hours I've been outside freezing my bahookey off. Well, after about 20 minutes inside there's another knock at the door...this time it was three Mexican "gents" asking the same thing that everyone else had been asking these last few days. Long story short, did I take them up on the offer to shovel around both my cars, and finish the sidewalk for me, yes indeed I did and I can't think of any better money spent, now that I knew how hard it was. Oops forgot the point of this post, my good deed...yes helping them out with a little bit of money certainly was nice but I brought them out hot chocolate while they were doing it. Okay, if you've gotten through this far, thanks for sticking with me as I stretch a 2 minute story to a 4 page blog post. It's so much faster just to talk to people..everybody just needs to start calling me from now on!! ;)

Sounds like money well spent! And I am sure they greatly appreciated your hot chocolate.
I am glad your front steps and sidewalk are cleared - by you and others! Just don't try to drive until roads are cleared - the TV says it is a dangerous scenario to do so. When the children get too bored, have them write a letter (or draw a picture) for Grandma and I will answer them. I wonder if the school district has hinted when you might have to come back to replace all the snow days lost. I hope they don't take Spring Break (since you have made plans) but they might do so. Could you still cancel or change reservations if necessary?
You are such a sweetie! That is such a Ruth thing to do though!
