Ribs,Cartilage,and the Hospital
Well since this blog is supposed to be mostly an updater of sorts so that people and friends I am away from know how our family is doing...an update on my last post about my birthday. The last sentence said that maybe something special could happen, right?? Well as soon after as I wrote that post, I went to bed and started to feel very achy and just not comfortable at all. I did not get any sleep at all (I was in the bathtub at 2 AM reading a book with hot pads on my ribs hoping that whatever it was would go away) well as luck would or in this case wouldn't have it...it definitely did not go away and I ended up in the hospital for 6 hours the next day while WONDERFUL friends from church drove me there (since Chris is of course 6000 miles away), and watched my kids. I also got a homemade cake that my kids and their "babysitter" helped them make, cards from them, and 3 bouquets of flowers. What can you say about friends?? Well, long story short, I have a torn or very stretched (they couldn't quite tell) cartilage in my rib cage and so they gave me painkillers and sent me on my way...well the medicine that was supposed to help me sleep like a "baby" last night-did not do so at all...maybe a little improvement over the first night's sleep but still up and very achy all over....hopefully each day will make it get better!! Thanks for all the birthday wishes though and honestly I'm kinda glad that birthday is over!! ;)

We are so grateful to good friends in Md. who helped you out - the church gives us a good foundation to find friends and companionship wherever we are. Being in Utah now, we give you a good place to visit too when you want to visit the beautiful national parks like Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce, etc. When you were in Korea for 3 years, we still had frequent phone calls, e-mails and several visits. Thank goodness for modern media that makes communication easy! We hope you feel even better tomorrow - your phone call tonight sounds like improvement is coming - you are in our daily prayers. Love, Mom and Dad (P.S. He sang "Happy Birthday" to you twice yesterday on the phone!)
Ruth - SO sorry to hear about your ribs, that's a bummer. I sure hope you feel better soon and despite the hospital, I hope you still had a Happy Birthday!
What a crappy birthday! So SORRY!!!! Chris better be thinking of something amazing to do for you when he arrives home to make up for such a bummer birthday. How did you hurt your ribs?????
